Ecuador is Calling Us Home
With open minds and hearts, we will journey deep into an area of the Amazon Rainforest we have not visited before, the home of the Sapara community of Atatakuinjia, located in the Pastaza Province of Ecuador. This matriarchal tribe will welcome us into their fold, offering an extraordinary opportunity to learn and grow.
Our Itinerary
November 11th:
Arrival in Quito
We gather in Quito, the charming capital of Ecuador, ready for our adventure. Most flights arrive late at night and you’ll be met at the airport and taken to a quaint hotel about 20 minutes from the airport.
November 12th:
Into the Jungle
We travel to Shell, where small planes will transport us into the heart of the Amazon. The flight offers stunning views of endless green treetops and the winding Pastaza River below. Atatakuinjia, our destination, is far removed from modern civilization and accessible only by foot through the jungle or via these small planes.
Once there, the Sapara community will hold a cleansing ceremony using N. Rustica, a special healing tobacco to purify our spirits. We receive Sapara names, our faces are painted with achiote plant seeds, symbolizing our integration into their world.
November 12th-16th:
Living with the Sapara
We immerse ourselves in jungle life, sleeping under mosquito nets, serenaded by the sounds of the Amazon. Our accommodations are open-air huts with the protective presence of the jungle surrounding us.
Our days will be filled with:

Jungle Hikes: Discover the medicinal secrets of indigenous plants.

Canoe Rides: Navigate the river to hidden campsites.

Cleansing Rituals: Participate in traditional Sapara healing ceremonies.

Ayahuasca Ceremony: Optionally partake in a transformative tribal ceremony led by a Sapara shaman.

Additional Ceremonies: Led by June, diving deeper into plant medicine and spiritual practices.
November 16th:
Re-entry and Reflection
As we prepare to leave the jungle, our small planes will take us back to civilization. We'll travel by bus to the quaint town of Baños, known for its enchanting hot springs and vibrant cultural experiences. Here, we will unwind, shop, dine, and soak in the natural hot springs, facilitating a gentle transition back to daily life.
November 17th:
Depart for Home
As we part ways, we carry with us the profound lessons and tranquil spirit of the Amazon. Unless you are extending your time in Ecuador, you will need to take a night flight on the 17th or an early morning flight on the 18th.
